How to Save Time, Spark Ideas, and Scale Content with AI in the Beverage Industry
Tired of AI hype? Here’s how ChatGPT can actually make your work easier.
Start small.
Think of AI and ChatGPT as a friendly assistant who doesn’t complain when you ask them to do stuff instead of some complicated tool that will ‘take your job’ one day.
It can take care of the tedious daily tasks that consume your calendar so you can focus on the creative and strategic tasks that drive impactful results.
If you don’t know where to start, you can ask it. Pretty easy right?
Type into ChatGPT:
‘I work in the [YOUR ROLE / REGULAR TASKS], give me 20 unique ways I could use AI and chatGPT in the the [YOUR INDUSTRY]’
Idea Generation
Tools like AI help with the problem of staring at a blank page or starting a task.
You can throw a brain dump of unorganised ideas and ask GPT to help you get started on whatever your task may be, and it will kickstart your blank page into a template or other ideas that spark more thoughts.
For example:
Prompt:
“Search the internet to find me what beverages are trending for Gen Z currently on social media.”
Response:
Non-alcoholic, low-alcoholic, functional & wellness drinks, bubble tea, ready-to-drink cocktails, matcha and speciality coffees.
Customer Understanding
Have you struggled to connect with your customers?
You can use AI to map your customers’ daily routines and discover their unspoken needs, helping you to deliver content that feels like it was made just for them.
Being customer-obsessed is what separates brands. It makes customers pay 2x, 5x, and 10x for your product over alternatives because when they purchase, there is a feeling of ‘they get me’.
When you focus on their problems, desires, routines, relationships, and interests, not just related to your product but their whole day, you can tap into their emotions and tell stories that genuinely relate to them.
I think a fantastic framework to look at this is from one of the large Chinese companies that owns WeChat. For their annual shareholder’s meeting, they show a 24-hour day split up into 15-minute chunks, and their goal is to own a product that fills each of those slots from sleep, food, communication, and supplements. We can take the same concept but map your ideal customer’s average day. And we can do this in seconds with AI with a prompt like this:
“Imagine your ideal customer, [describe customer persona briefly, e.g., ‘a young male in his early 20s who values fitness, productivity, and social interactions.’]. Map out their entire day in 15-minute increments to understand their desires, pain points, interests, hobbies, habits, etc.”
Now you have a canvas for going above and beyond to understand your ideal customer and create tailored content, personalised emails, and ads that speak to their pain points or create products they want.
Data Insights & Summarising
If I give you a 500-page report on customer spending for your relevant niche, you would not be too pleased unless it truly interests you. This is an example of one of those boring, tedious tasks that can be read in a second by GPT and give you what you need to know from trends, SWOT analysis, insights from different perspectives and so on.
Let’s break this down into an example:
View AI and language models like Chat-GPT tools to help speed up boring, tedious tasks and processes.
For example:
Read this 500-page document and give me the key points.
Summarise this chain of emails for me.
These are our brand guidelines; help me write copy for a social media post.
We are doing personalised labelling for 1000 bottles of a particular product. Please write me a personalised label for each of them based on these inputs.
Build an AI chatbot for our website to give viewers personalised beverage recommendations.
Remember, ChatGPT will give better and more tailored responses the more tailored the prompt input.
For example:
Simple Prompt:
Help me come up with a new Shiraz wine product.
VS
Better Prompt:
I’m looking to leverage AI to identify growth opportunities within the [INSERT YOUR INDUSTRY / NICHE] by analysing our resources. I’ve attached five years of consumer sales data for our entire product line and ten customer interview transcripts covering diverse customer archetypes and detailed product feedback. Based on these resources, please:
Analyse historical sales trends and highlight underperforming or high-growth segments.
Identify potential areas to improve existing products or develop new ones, considering shifts in customer preferences, unmet needs, or emerging market trends.
Suggest enhancements in our branding, positioning, and communication strategies to better resonate with our target audiences.
Provide actionable insights on consumer feedback patterns, helping us prioritise innovation that aligns with customer desires.
(Note: Upload relevant documents and change prompt based on what you provide, whether it’s consumer data, sales data, social media trends, etc.)
You have now gone from customer insights that used to take days to compile, which can be summarised in minutes with GPT’s help. Just ask: ‘Summarise customer feedback on these features.’
Content. At Scale.
Now that we have trends, a SWOT analysis, and our ideal customers’ daily routines, we have the building blocks to give them exactly what they want.
TIP: ChatGPT will learn about you slowly, but staying in the same chat thread for your brand or product will help keep it understanding as you give it more information. So, going from uploading reports asking it about trends, then moving on to the ideal customer, will have a deep understanding of precisely what you need.
On the back of our ideal customer routine, we can ask GPT:
“Your a [YOUR INDUSTRY] content marketing & customer engagement specialist, taking into account the ideal customers daily routine and their desires, pain points, interest, hobbies and habits, help me create [EMAIL FOR CHRISTMAS SALE / INSTAGRAM CAPTION FOR A REEL / SMS COPY FOR A NEW PRODUCT]”
The variables are whatever you currently need, but the key is the context we give it vs just asking it to make an Instagram post for us that will not deliver any results.
Ask for it to give 10 versions that differ on emotions, vibe, style, etc, to get more ideas and see how your one idea can spread into so much more.
Summing Up
Now, this is a fundamental high-level overview with so many possibilities. There are endless opportunities to streamline your workflow, generate ideas, create content, etc. The goal is to get you to play around with it, as the more you use it, the more ways you will find it to help you. Think of it like an assistant who gets better the more you use it, but the more you tell your assistant what to do, the more specific you get at asking it to do tasks.
Ready to take AI for a spin? Set aside 15 minutes this week to try one prompt from each section. You’ll be amazed at how quickly ChatGPT becomes your go-to assistant.
Closing Thought;
“Remember, AI doesn’t replace your unique skills — it amplifies them. The more you explore and integrate it into your routine, the more you’ll uncover possibilities for efficiency and creativity. Consider it a partner that grows with you.”
